Lunch Ideas
Are your kids getting sick of the old peanut butter and jelly sandwich? Try some of these ideas to help broaden your packed lunches!
Sandwich Sticks: Put any meat, cheese, cucumber, lettuce in whole
wheat bread (try out my Dad's homemade recipe)! Cut sandwich into quarters and poke toothpicks through center. Put
olives on the end. Serve with a kiwi, yogurt & a spoon. Don’t forget the frozen water
bottle to keep it cold!
Pita Pizzas: Put spaghetti sauce, tomatoes, spinach, cheese,
pepperoni into pita bread (can be eaten cold or warmed if they have a
microwave). Serve with dipping vegetables (carrots, celery, broccoli,
cauliflower) and a little bit of homemade ranch (look under recipes), whole
wheat roll, apples slices, and milk!
Mini Bagelwich: Use 2 mini bagels and put tuna
with celery, pickles, and spinach in them! Serve with a banana, hiccama slices and
skim chocolate milk! Pumpkin choc chip muffin for dessert (look under recipes).
Nutritious Lunchables: Use Homemade Wheat thins (look under
recipes). Cheese Slices, Ham Slices. Serve with cucumbers and orange slices. Low
fat or skim milk. And a banana peanut butter cookie (look under recipes).
Peanut Butter Burrito: Put crunchy peanut butter, and sliced
fruit (strawberries, bananas etc) with a little bit of honey or jam on a
Tortilla. Wrap it all up and fold ends!. Serve with homemade wheat thins, baby tomatoes, and snap peas.
WonderWraps: Use whole wheat wraps, put pesto sauce, deli meat, cheese, and
load it with veggies. Serve with peaches, or nectarines and an apple muffin (look under recipes)
for dessert.
WAY Subway: Whole Wheat Deli Bun full of vegetables, grilled chicken,
and cheese! Frozen Juice, baked chips, and a pear.
